How it works

From one image to a splat in three steps

No camera rig, no photogrammetry, no local GPU.

  1. 01

    Upload one image

A product photo, a render, or a clean shot of a single object. Background is removed for you.

  2. 02

    Generate the splat

The model builds 262,144 Gaussians and fills in the sides the photo never showed.

  3. 03

    Preview and download

Drag the result in the browser, then download .splat, .ply, or a point-cloud .glb.

Why Idol 3D

A splat tool, not a mesh pipeline

No queue, no extra account

Generate in the browser with your Idol 3D credits. No Hugging Face login, no shared GPU queue.

360° preview on desktop and phone

Every result opens in a draggable viewer. Touch, pen, and mouse work the same way.

Three files from one run

Download the native .splat, a standard 3DGS .ply, and a point-cloud .glb for Blender, Unity, or web viewers.

Background handled for you

The subject is cut out before reconstruction, so a plain wall or desk does not end up in your splat.

Use cases

What people make with one image

Product pages

Turn a studio photo into a 360° product view without booking a scanner.

Game and scene props

Block out props and set dressing from concept art before committing to a mesh.

AR and web objects

Drop a splat into a splat-aware web viewer or engine plugin and keep the look of the source photo.

AI characters and figures

Give a generated character or collectible a rotatable 3D form, then inspect it from every side.

FAQ

Questions before you start

What is Idol 3D?

Idol 3D is an independent online tool that turns a single image of an object into a 3D Gaussian splat. You upload a picture, the model reconstructs the object, and you preview and download the result in your browser.

Is Idol 3D free?

You need credits to generate. A Standard generation costs 120 credits, and credits are sold in packs on the pricing page. There is no free credit grant, so nothing is charged without your action.

What images work best?

One object with the whole subject in frame and a clean background. Product photos, renders, and clear AI-generated images work best. Complex scenes, several overlapping objects, and heavily cropped subjects produce worse results.

What is a Gaussian splat, and is it the same as a 3D mesh?

No. A Gaussian splat is a cloud of small 3D blobs with position, colour, opacity, and shape. It has no polygons, UVs, or rig, so it renders quickly and looks photographic, but it is not a mesh. The .glb we offer is a coloured point-cloud preview, not a polygonal model.

How do I open .ply or .splat files?

Use the built-in viewer on this site for a quick look, or open the files in SuperSplat, Blender (with a 3DGS add-on), or a Unity Gaussian splatting plugin. The .ply we export is a degree-0 3DGS point cloud.

Is this the IDOL 3D human avatar model from the 2024 paper?

No. That is a different research model for drivable 3D humans. Idol 3D is an independent object-to-splat tool and is not affiliated with that project or with Speridlabs.

Can I use the results commercially?

You keep the rights to images you upload, and you are responsible for having the right to use them. We do not grant rights to third-party characters, brands, or scanned products shown in your input.

How long are my files kept?

Result files stay downloadable for 7 days from generation. Download what you need during that window. Subscriber accounts may have their outputs archived to our CDN for longer.
